Write for us

Grand Match Report welcomes considered pitches about the changing countryside: its field patterns, woodland, waterways, weather signs and working rhythms. We look for clear, evergreen ideas that reward close attention.

What makes a good pitch

Send a short account of the subject, the central idea and why it will interest a general reader. Say what the piece will help readers understand or notice, and outline how you would handle context, uncertainty and differences between places. A focused comparison or explanation is often more useful than an all-encompassing survey.

The right fit

We are interested in original proposals that are specific, readable and grounded in what can responsibly be explained. Avoid unsupported claims, sweeping descriptions of rural life and advice that depends on local rules or specialist judgement. Please mention any relevant sources, conflicts of interest or material that has appeared elsewhere.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page to send your pitch. A proposal is not a commission, and we may ask for clarification before deciding whether it suits the almanac.
